Volume controls (Insanity #21)

<- Previous Next ->
Title: Volume controls
Description: I always feel much happier if digital volume controls on TVs, hi-fis, car stereos, etc. are set to be either an even number or multiple of 5, preferrably both.

Odd that where there are no markings or numbers I'm really not fussed.

i do that too but i cannot have it on an even number because for me even numbers semm odd, numbers that end in 0 or 5 are in my mind even.

I too suffer from this affliction and have to change the volume if someone else has not done it correctly!

Hi Jayse,

The controls can show decibels (the unit used to measure sound pressure [loudness]) which range from a large negative number (quietest) to zero (loudest) or they can be completely arbitary from 0-10 (or 0-11 if you're Spinal Tap).

Andy.

Hi Andy,

I can understand that. What do those controls show; impedance or decibels or something?

Bye for now
Jason.
